Who is an active consumer?

Active consumers are those who have an installation for generating or storing electricity and use it both for their own consumption and for sale to the general grid. Simply put, this is someone who not only uses electricity, but also produces it himself.

Companies or private households that have the status of active consumers can sell their excess electricity through the net-billing mechanism, or self-generation, as it is also called.

That is, when a PV plant produces more kilowatts than it needs to consume, the resulting surplus can be sold through the net-billing mechanism and receive money for it.

To use the mechanism, you need to have a solar power plant and enter into a power purchase agreement with an electricity supplier. An active consumer does not have to obtain a separate license for electricity production.
